I donated plasma for the first time today. It was overall a pleasant experience however plan on being there all day for your first visit. I got there around 8:45am and left around 2:00pm. The staff were all very polite and professional. The patrons vary from college students to riff-raff. The facility is clean and the waiting area is very roomy. Lots of TV_s and even wall outlets to charge your phone!! I had to be stuck twice with the needle because the first vein would not cooperate - but the staff was very nice about it. MOST IMPORTANTLY : Drink LOTS of water the day BEFORE (like a gallon) and eat a healthy meal before you go. Also take a snack in case you wait a while!! I did not take a snack and apparently was not hydrated enough and had a reaction about 3/4 way through the procedure. I got extremely nauseous and began to black out. The staff acted quickly and had everything under control in a matter of minutes. Again the staff were very thorough and professional. I would recommend this place.

Never worked there, but I donated for a few years now, and in case anyone reading this site is in actual need of the money provided, I want to step in as an unbiased voice of reason. DCI can help keep your cellphone on, help keep your ISP live, take care of insurance, or gas, etc. it HELPS. Donating plasma should never be seen as a job and if you see it that way you have problems that leaving a bad review is not going to fix. Donating has given me pocket change to keep my sanity when I_m out of work, bus money to help me keep looking for work and bus money to help me get to work; it helps. So if you find yourself in need of a little help, don_t be dissuaded by the clowns that post nonsense like what you may have seen here. Just consider the source of the information! lmfao, if the whole rant was stuffed with misspelled words and vulgarity, statements that reveal a complete lack of class, I wouldn_t care what was said. wtf would I care if some ghetto tramp is calling another person a ghetto tramp? G/T(G/T) cancels out, = must see for myself. Go see for yourself. Low Donor Payments. Now I heard speculation that the full tubes are worth anything from 500 to 2000 dollars, I guess it depends on the demand at the particular time of year. Apparently some donors are mad that they see only a tiny portion of that money. hmmm, my advice? stfu. if you mad get a better hustle, maybe you should organize a statewide plasma donor strike. otherwise sign in, shut up, and bleed. oh! how about you apply for a job there? The staff is obviously overworked, every time I go and sit and watch tv or play on my phone for three hours they have already been back there for mad hours and they will be there long after I leave. working. and getting paid. maybe if you get some time on the clock you wont be so stressed that you feel the need to go and shit on good people and scare others out of a chance to put a couple quick dollars in their pockets. Bathrooms are nasty? STOP PISSING ON THE FLOOR! do you do that at home? Ghetto staff. W/E. If you don_t like it, apply for a job there. Surely you_ll get hired, since they hired such hood trash before you, right? Then you can bring your sunshine and gumdrops to my visits and make DCI smell like a pine sol commercial. look, I_m just a guy, I_m unemployed right now but even when I worked two jobs I donated, and when I made 17 dollars an hour wiring cellphone towers I donated, because I believe my plasma can help someone else and I see physical benefits as well. Donating plasma is not for everyone, some people are just too frail, whether it be of mind or body or both... But if you think you need a quick $ boost, and are running low on options it_s worth visiting a center to find out for yourself. As I said I_ve donated for a few years and have come to know a few of the techs that have been there a while. All the core people are good people who do their job well. This means that new hires will have to reach to the established level or fall off. Just the same as in any company. If you had a bad experience at DCI, I feel bad for you, cause I never have, and I_m pretty sure the main difference between you and I is that you_re soft like butter on the beach.

This is an okay clinic but if you donate here and don_t receive your payments on your card they act like they don_t care and do not do anything for you. So half the time you may get paid and the other half you won_t oh well...

If they fired all the people who work in the reception area except for that whiteboy they would already have made a big difference it takes forever because the staff could careless all they wanna do is socialize and if you complain they will bump you back. its not very diverse i guess they dont too much like hiren other races. the staff is bringing that place down where is the compassion?

The first time i went I waited 6hrs when the nurse finally came and was like \_I ment to tell you, u cant donate because of the surgery\_ i was like and it took you a this time to tell me somethinf you knew 5hrs ago. I thought that was so inconsiderate. Ive gone back since they got a few good ppl working there but they are usually in the back except for the one white dude that works in the front he is nice too. it takes forever to be taken back because the people in the front are usually buisy socializing with eachother and passing their friends to the front of the line. I_m not sure if the new management racist but there isn_t a lot of diversity there and you can tell they tried to make it look diverse when its not. some of the people that worl there are great, the rest could care less about you, if they hurt you ect. this 1 girl could not find my vein she stuck me 6 times the other boy came and got it on the first. A lot of them treat the donors like garbage.

The staff was exceptionally polite. The new location wait room is roomy. The wait for new donor(s) (for me) was longer than I_d like, but that was the only bad mark. Good place to donate.

DCI has greatly improved over the last several months. The average wait time is less than 2 hours for repeat donors (unless you need an annual physical). The formal training program with Aida and her able trainers seems to have solved many of the problems of the past few years. My only complaint is the disestablishment of bed time bingo and the fact that Vanessa no longer works there.

Well, I_ve been considering selling my plasma to this place, I_ve never done it anywhere before, but I think I won_t after reading all these negative comments here. There are much more negative than positive comments posted on this site, I need the money but I refuse to be mistreated while I_m in their office. Especially by ghetto type losers...No way!

I dont know what the deal really is about some of the staff . However clean it is , ghetto many are [staff] Fake attitudes do exist with some of the staff . One of the spanish looking chicks with the straight brown hair I do not like her attitude especially today 10/29/2010 . When she did my vitals she rushed me to sign the forms before even finishing answeing the high risk questions then she kept aking me irrelvant questions about my pressure . Like I have a private physician who oviously is licensed and states Im in perfect health ! So why is she questioining me ? lmao She seem ti try to find anything to keep me from donating . Personally I dont work and dont need to as many can seee from my vehicle and townhome PAID IN FULL BRAND NEW . I only come there for the extra cash hell I dont have a job but a multiway hustler I am . From hee being rude I left ! And they talk about each other ! lmao

This quiet boy but looks mean you figure it out. I have read some these comments that people have made, and it seems like there is a lot jealous people writng on here. Is this site here to make the center better or to say things about people, who job you wish had. As a donor I hear you guys talking about hours and how you need the money, but what I can_t understand is why wont you leave and go some where else. I_ll tell you why, you can_t. You need the money and hating on someone who drive a basic car. From being around people who drives cars like that they 9 times out of 10 can probably go buy a brand new car at anytime. Just something to think about. I don_t mind coming up there and donating but a few of yall chicks need to tighten up yourself, just food for thought. Aka Sodamfly, luverofhumanlife. Hope you have it rite by the time I come in monday or wednesday, and one more thing at least post readable paragraphs. I enjoy coming to the center and keep it up.

I stope going to the old center when it got really crowded, but I recently went back and foud out that they moved. They have a brand new BEAUTIFUL center on colonial, across from Big Lots. I love going to the new center, they have more tv_s, they crowds aren_t bad, and the staff has been awesome. I recommend that if you have been away for awhile go in and check them out again. You might be surprised.

I did not know verY much about the last supervisor of this clinic but I will tell you that I have been a donor at this clinic since 2008 on and off again.I at one time loved to com in to the clinic. The people where very nice and seemed to love their job. it was nice. very friendly to me and my friends and family who come to. The 2 african american women came here recently and are very mean. The never have a smile and make no one in this clinic smile. Even the security who are very nice men all seem mad to have to be there. the clinic is clean and the people are doing good jobs. the money is lower then a lot of other places but it is close and very easy to find.

I am fairly new to the center just started back in January. I just had to make a coment after reading the last one. I don_t know the last manager was, but I haven_t had any problems the ones that are there now. The head lady even came out and introduced herself on my first donation. I like it there.

I use to go to DCI on Alafaya when the manager was Rebecca. She was always kind, cheerful and polite to everybody. She made you feel at home and comfortable, did_nt judge you for who you are. The staff is GREAT still, BUT, since new management took over after Rebecca left, well she SUCKS. SHE IS RUDE, HER LITTLE SIDEKICK IS PREJUDICE. UNLESS YOU ARE BLACK YOU WILL NOT BE FIRST. THEY ARE VERY RUDE TO THEIR STAFF. THEY ACT LIKE THE TWO OF THEM ARE BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE. GET RID OF THEM. YOUR DONORS WILL GO ELSEWHERE.WE WANT REBECCA BACK!!! I WILL NO LONGER GO TO THAT LOCATION AND I WILL BE SURE TO POST THIS ON TWITTER AND FACEBOOK SO PEOPLE WILL NO ABOUT THE HORRIBLE WAY THAT MANAGER TREATS YOU. CORPORATE NEEDS TO KNOW. AND ALSO THE LABOR BOARD!!!

I have read some of the comments. And I felt I would respond as someone who once upon a time worked there. The place has fallen apart since they got rid of their college kid staff and general manager Nancy. It used to be professional, courteous, clean (Nancy demanded it) and fun. To answer a comment above, to be a phlebotomist you did not need any credentials. You were trained and certified through DCI. So in all, it used to suck to work there because the management would kick ass, but it was much nicer for the donors.

I_ve been a long time donor at DCI and things have changed since I first started. The economoy has increased the number of people going there, and I am just happy thery aren_t turn us away. I like the extra money that I get from donating, but I am just glad I can help people by donating. While you are waiting you should be thinking about those you are helping not the money you are making.

Slow, Dirty and Rude. My bf and I were there for 8 HOURS for the screening and first donation. The staff said it would be faster every other time. well thats true but barely. every other time is almost 4 hours. The waiting room is like the waiting room at the rehab clinic. The bus station like bathrooms are filthy. While you wait you can watch the staff socialize and talk on the phone. Dont say anything to them, it will put you farther down on the list. We finally stopped going when they cut the pay. Including the round trip drive, it took 5 hours out of my day. All for 15 bucks! Find another plasma center to go to. We did and they are great.

With a long wait time, the new tvs are helpful. Recently, I was denied the ability to donate because my pulse was too low, at 40bpm. The reading was WAY off, and they told me to come back the next day. She positioned the cuff on my arm wrong. The majority of the time the person taking the readings have no medical background, they have customer service background and will gladly share that info if asked. That_s slightly disconcerting. The people sticking you do have certificates and credentials though. Last time though, they didn_t wrap my arm properly and I bled down my arm onto the ground banging on the door since they were closed when I left. No one answered. When asked about it? That_s just our policy, on both subjects. No, that_s just stupidity. I can take my own pulse, I_m not stupid. Something doesn_t add up.

Don_t bother if you_re not waiting in line at 7:30. I went at 8:30 and they were not seeing anymore patients for the day. More than 1000 people there already I would guess.

Be prepaired to wait about 3 hours on a good day. The staff is friendly but could care less about getting you in the back room. Even after I donated I sat there with a needle in my arm for 15 min while the staff chatted in the corner. Its an easy way to make $$$ but dont be in a hurry, its about 3 hours to get you through every time.

When I started in feb_09 it took more than hour to get your pricked and you were on the first page of 28 names. It has improved, they added chairs, TVs, and most importantly speeded the intake process.
