Was a little disappointed to find that they no longer have a center in Woodland Hills (which would have only been a couple blocks from my work). Their offices are in Van Nuys (Sherman wy/Sepulvida) and at USC. They did a pre-screening on the phone. Everyone was very nice and polite and I have an appointment set up for tomorrow. Maybe I_ll comment afterwards on my post-donation experience.

I visited this location and Hemacare’s other location on Van Nuys Blvd… and they both look closed. I then called Hemacare’s office, and the said they no longer have platelet donor centers in Los Angeles.

I have not been there, but I called to find out: They seem to organize local blood drives, so if you_re interested, you might call them to find out about these drives. At this site, they perform platelet donation collection. You can be compensated for your time at $50, in the form of gift cards or utility bill payments. The process takes about 2 hours, a little longer than plasma donation, and you can only do it once in any 14 day period. Hours are M,F mornings, and Tu-Th afternoons and evenings. They are open 7 days a week, but I didn_t catch the weekend operating hours.
