Carter Blood Care is founded in 1998 by the merger of two local blood centers and it is The Texas largest blood center. In April of 2007, they announced a merger with Tyler based Stewart Regional Blood Center. And now, they provide more than 330,000 units of lifesaving blood to North Central and East Texas each year. As there mission “We save lives by making transfusion possible.” They guided by the philosophy that community blood donations should benefit community patients, and that blood centers must be responsive to the community that supports them.
Carter BloodCare is a non profit organization that operates on behalf of patients and their loved ones in 54 Texas countries. There location is located on Bedford near DFW Airport. The facility is equipped to store, process, and test all blood components locally before distribution. It is accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks, licensed by the food and Drug Administration and affiliated with America's Blood Centers. They are the primary provider of blood components and transfusion services for approximately 300 Texas health care facilities. The facilities include the regions children hospitals, central trauma centers, major cancer centers, and transplant centers. Carter BloodCare also provides specialized laboratory and patient care services and physician consultation. They also participates in the education of professionals in transfusion medicine and medical technologists specializing in blood banking. |
