After Tropical Storm Ernesto hit some Caribbean islands over the weekend, the TS is now heading west-northward toward Central America.

Ernesto is said to brush the coast of Honduras and northeastern Nicaragua on Monday, along with tropical storm force winds and flooding downpours. The tropical storm will hit Belize in Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning as Ernesto continues its west-northwest track. Ernesto is predicted to pass over the Yucatan during the middle of the week and could emerge in the southern Gulf of Mexico as a tropical depression.

Ernesto is less likely to hit United States, but a new tropical storm, Florence, has formed in the mid-Atlantic. It is set to hit towards the Caribbean.

Countries all over the world have been hit by tropical storms over the past weeks and there’s nothing we can do to stop this. But there’s one problem the world faces that we can prevent: blood shortage. Extreme weather like thunderstorms is one of the reasons why we face blood scarcity. People are kept indoors and blood drives are canceled due to unpleasant weather conditions. While there are no signs of tropical storms in your country yet, we urge you to donate blood to the nearest blood donation centers in your place to have sufficient blood supply at hospitals and blood banks.

Tropical storms are seasonal, but the need for blood is not. We need blood supplies every second of every day. Let’s give blood before it’s too late.
