Tropical Storm Vicente is said to have struck China at about 06:00 GMT on July 23. Vicente is anticipated to bring 1-minute maximum sustained winds to the region and wind gusts may be considerably higher.
According to the provincial meteorological center, Vicente is expected at the coastal areas between Yangjiang city in Guangdong and Wanning City in Hainan at Monday night or Tuesday morning. The province of Guangdong will expect heavy rains between Monday and Wednesday and winds of up to 100 kilometers per hour may hit the coastal areas.
In addition, Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale reports that Vicente could lead a potential property damage and flooding at landfall that include: some damage to poorly constructed signs; damage primarily to unanchored mobile homes, shrubbery and trees; some coastal road flooding and minor pier damage; and no real damage to building structures.
Tropical storms and floods are few of the reasons why there is a decline in blood supplies at our hospitals and blood banks. While tropical storms sweep most of Asia lately, we encourage people to donate blood ASAP to the nearest blood donation centers to prevent blood shortage. Every two seconds, someone needs blood. Before violent storms attack our cities, let us give the gift of blood ahead of time. So in case someone needs it, there is available blood supply, anytime, anywhere – whatever the season and weather.
