Tropical storms have visited some Asian countries lately and have caused millions of damages and left thousands homeless. There’s nothing we can do to prevent storms but there’s something we can do to help those who get into accidents caused by the stormy weather when we donate blood. Tropical storms are one of the reasons why we experience blood shortage because people do not have the time to go to blood donation centers to donate blood anymore.
As a precaution to blood shortage, BloodBanker publishes storm warnings for all countries where tropical storms are headed. This is a small way to help people prepare food supplies and emergency kits and also give eligible donors time to donate blood ahead. There’s a string of tropical storms that hitting countries lately and if we do not give blood ahead of time, there’s a big possibility of blood supplies scarcity in hospitals and lots of lives may be compromised. This is the scene that we are trying to avoid.
We encourage you to give blood ASAP in blood donation centers in your place to help prevent blood shortage. So in case someone needs it, there is available blood supply, anytime, anywhere – whatever the season and weather.
