When thinking about donating blood, The American Red Cross may be the first to cross your mind. The American Red Cross Services is a non profit agency that primarily deals with blood and blood platelet donations.

Monday –Thursday 12:30 – 7:30

Frequency of Donation: You can donate once every 56 days.

Test Prior To Signing up: There is only a simple hemoglobin test prior to donation. However the Red Cross has the following donation guidelines: at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and not have donated blood in the last 56 days. The parameters of “Healthy” are broad but basically mean feeling well and performing normal activities.

Chronic conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure must be under control. A donor receives a brief examination during which temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood count (hemoglobin or hematocrit) are measured.

Time Length for Donation: The normal donation takes 40 minutes to an hour.
