What is CSL Plasma?

The role of CSL in 1916 was to supply vaccines for the Australian government. It transforms into a public company in 1994 and from this moment onwards, CSL becomes a well-respected biopharmaceutical company in the world. The CSL Plasma is its collection center which operates in 73 branches in United States and Germany. The company calls the attention of more than 400,000 donors each year as it needs plasma for the creation of biotherapies that cures rare blood diseases such as hemophilia and von Willebrand disease.

The CSL Plasma operates under CSL Behring – a global provider of plasma-derived products. These two companies are owned by CSL Limited – the company that manufactures biological products. Its hours of operation starts at 7 am to 6:30 pm for Mondays until Fridays and 8 am to 2pm during weekends. Appointment is needed.

What are their goals?

CSL Plasma is an industry leader that has partnered with several local and national organizations such as Immune Deficiency Foundation and United Way. The company also aims to preserve the highest quality of service by hiring competent employees and by accepting eligible plasma donors.

If it’s your first-time, the entire procedure of collecting plasma lasts 90 minutes (registration and answering questionnaire are included). The actual plasmapheresis, which separates the plasma from your other blood components, only takes 45 minutes. Your second visit, however, will not last longer.
