Community Blood Centers of South Florida, Inc, (CBCSF) is a non-profit blood collection agency. Each year, CBCSF collects over 160,000 pints of blood and blood products for use in local hospitals.

They operate 18 donor centers, 10 in the greater Miami area, and have 27 bloodmobiles travel throughout the community.

What is donated: You can donate whole blood or plasma.

Pay per donation:
Nothing, however they have a donor incentive plan.

Frequency of donation:
You can donate whole blood every 8 weeks.

Test prior to donating:
hematicrit, they also do a vital check- temperature, blood pressure and pulse before each donation.

Length of time for donation:
It takes bout 1 hr for each donation.

none

History of center:
Founded in 1975 by a group of citizens concerned about a county blood supply, which was marked by shortages and unsafe practices, joined to form a non-profit, all-voluntary blood center.

Uniqueness:
This facility is run by volunteers and uses the blood at local hospitals for the community.
