Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
There are several blood and plasma locations in the Greater Boston area. Each have a unique quality, and are able to meet needs of people in the local and surrounding community.
One of the more interesting centers is the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

They donate platelets, primarily.
Open Hours:
returning donors Monday – Thursday 7 a.m. – 6p.m.
Fridays 7-1
Sat. 7:30 – noon
For First time donors Monday -Thursday 8-4
Friday and Saturday 8 - noon
Pay Per Donation: They do not pay anything for each generous donation, but they do have a unique recognition system. With each donation the giver receives a tally towards various gifts.
For every gift points are accrued and for so many donations they give a gift. For example, the 400th donation is a week-end getaway.
Frequency of Donation: You may donate every 14 days
Test Prior To Signing up: Donor must complete a medial screening over the phone.
Time Length for Donation: 90 minutes for each visit. For the first time donor, there is a 10 min screening with nurse beforehand.

History of Center: The center opened in 1972 . They are part of Joint Program in Transfusion medicine
Advantages: The people who work at the facility are very proud of what they do for the community and feel that their service and equipment are the best possible.
Uniqueness: As their location is in a cancer hospital, people visiting patients in the hospital can generously donate for that person or for the general blood bank at the same time.
