Both times I have donated, I scheduled an appointment. Location Hillendale Fire Station, Woodbridge, Va 22193. Even with I95 southbound rush hour traffic, I arrived before my scheduled time. Each time I arrived I was told they were running 45 minutes to an hour behind. Each time the excuse was that they werent_ able to get into the room, couldn't find the person with the keys. I told them that was poor planning and poor execution. Not just once but both times. The first time I arrived at 5:15 pm, waited one and half hour till I got called, blood draw took 30 minutes and then I had an hour drive to get home, arriving at 8:15 pm. No dinner and this took 3 hours of my time. They even suggested that I go to Arlington, north of my job and way north of my home, so I would have had to backtrack, just to get home and it would have taken even longer. They know what the problem is, then why not fix it. This time I waited an hour and told them I was leaving. I still had 5 people in front of me, it was 6:15 pm and I still had an hour drive to get home. So, no blood donation for me this time. I don't even wait an hour for my doctor and they at least call me to let me know they are running late. This gives me the option of arriving later or rescheduling. Red Cross needs to get their act together or I won't be donating blood again. I refuse to spend 3 or more hours, on a week night, to make a blood donation that should take 30 minutes. Totally incompetent and shows a complete disregard for the donors time.
