I have always had a wonderful experience at the Montgomery branch of LifeSouth. The staff is polite and everyone is friendly. Being a laboratory professional, all blood must be tested before it goes out for public use. Just because someone receives a letter saying to call because something has come back questionable, that doesn't mean that the person is positive. 9 times out of 10, the second _ third test result is negative. The machines used are highly sensitive, and if they suspect anything abnormal (common cold virus even), the machine flags that the specimen may be unacceptable. As for not receiving a prompt call back, I hate to hear that because the staff has always been so helpful when I donated. Sorry for your inconvenience, but I pray that doesn't keep you _ your family from helping save lives. I have seen it make all of the difference so many times that I will continue to donate unless I found out I did have a harmful virus.

This is really not about me--although I had a lousy experience when I gave blood with LS in Autauga County's Health Dept. parking lot. We had to wait at least one hour because a blood pressure cuff had to be brought from Montgomery. THE PRESENT DAY EXPERIENCE IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. MY SON-IN-LAW RECEIVED A CERTIFIED LETTER YESTERDAY INDICATING HE MAY HAVE THE HIV VIRUS, TELLING HIM TO CALL SHARON CARPENTER IMMEDIATELY ANY DAY BETWEEN 8 _ 5. IT IS NOW 1:30 P.M. AND HE HAS LEFT 3 MESSAGES. NEEDLESS TO SAY HE IS NERVOUS AND PUZZLED SINCE HE JUST HAD EXTENSIVE BLOOD WORK DONE WITH A PRIVATE MEDICAL CENTER. THIS IS INEXCUSABLE! IT'S ENOUGH TO MAKE THE ENTIRE FAMILY GIVE UP DONATING BLOOD! WHAT A SHAME!
