How often can I donate platelets?

Quick answerYou can donate platelets every 7 days, up to 24 times a year. Because platelets are replaced quickly, the interval is much shorter than for whole blood.

The interval

Seven days between platelet donations, with a yearly maximum of 24. Your body replaces platelets within days.

Becoming a regular

Many centers welcome regular platelet donors and will help you set a recurring schedule. A reminder makes it easy.

Before each visit

Avoid aspirin for about two days beforehand, since it affects platelet function.
