I just came from the Garth Blood Center where I tried to donate my blood. I have been a regular donor there for over 20 years and have never had any problems before. I have never had a worst experience. The girl who tried to draw my blood seemed to have never done it before and had only nominal and wrong training. Her solution to not getting enough flow was to keep jabbing the needle around my arm. Finally an experienced tech told her that she had a clamp on. She continued 20 minutes more trying to get the needle into a better blood supply. She finaly gave up with only a partial unit that she said probably wouldn't be used. The older tech didn't seem to think I was worth his time and did nothing to help. When I got home there was a phone message saying how much they needed my blood. What a bad joke.

Alas, I have the family curse of the Houdini veins. One minute you swear they are there, the next minute they're gone. They had to stick me twice, but these are very good staff. They are professional, nice, and the overall experience is very pleasant. There's no money involved, but the two times I've been there I got a coupon for free ice cream. I would highly recommend this place.

I found this facility by stumbling upon this site and I must say that everything the other reviewer have said is 100% correct. These gals make you feel at home and they are so experienced that the experience is painless and very pleasant---they are very good talkers AND very good listeners (I tend to be somewhat loquacious)! They see to it that you receive plenty of great snacks _ drinks. Top rating, unquestionably!

Giving blood is using a tense and trying experience for most people--- on the average. But at the Garth Englund Blood Center....I have given blood for the past few years and I have gotten to know so many of the staff that is so fun to visit with everyone and \_catch up\_ what has been going on everyone's lives. Everyone there makes my time and experience to give blood a comfortable and enjoyable visit. It is the best place I have ever given blood and Garth Englund's Blood Center has some of the nicest and most professional people you ever want to meet.

This center is usually overstaffed, which means you get lots of individual attention. There is a very low turnover rate on the staff, so the phleb's have plenty of experience. I've been donating platelets at Garth Englund for two years and have had nothing but good experiences. I also like that the blood is going straight to the local hospital without some other organization acting as a middle-man.
