Heartland Blood Centers mission is to provide and maintain an adequate supply of blood and blood products for area hospitals to draw upon in order to meet the anticipated and actual needs of patients. The Blood bank is founding in 1943 and annually almost 2,000 blood drives at area of hospitals, churches, businesses, schools and community groups.
A Heartland Blood Centers is an independent blood center serving 33 hospitals in a 12 county area. They operate under the donor system and works towards collecting more than 160,000 units of blood annually. The first commitment of Heartland Blood Centers is always to meet local blood needs. They are always ready to assist other parts of the country during severe blood shortages, national emergencies and increased demands by armed services.
